New Vulkan SDKs include SPIRV-reflect and vkconfig improvements

LunarG releases new Windows, Linux, and macOS SDKs for Vulkan header 1.2.154.0. The prior SDK supported Vulkan API revision 1.2.148. Read on for information about the new features.

Overview of New Features in SDK 1.2.154.0

The Vulkan Configurator (vkconfig) has been updated to improve quality and stability.  See the Vulkan Configurator documentation for more information.

SPIRV-Reflect has been added to the SDK.

The Device Simulation Layer (devsim) has been updated to support the VK_KHR_portability_subset extension. Read about this in the devsim documentation. Note: The VK_KHR_portability_subset extension has been released as “provisional” and the integration of devsim and the portability extension with vkconfig is work in progress.

This SDK also includes support for new extensions:

  • VK_EXT_4444_formats
  • VK_KHR_copy_commands2
  • VK_KHR_portability_subset

These SDK features are for the macOS SDK only:

    • iOS and tvOS versions of binaries for MoltenVK support both hardware and simulator environments using an XCFramework
    • MoltenVK now supports Vulkan version 1.1
    • New extensions: VK_KHR_multiview, VK_KHR_external_semaphore, VK_KHR_external_fence
