As a Graphics Technologist and Engineering Manager, Alan has provided crucial leadership to many key graphics products for HP over his 30 year career.  A Project manager, Architect, and Master Technologist for HP’s Workstation Division, Alan focused on Graphics, Linux, and Video Collaboration.  Always on the forefront of HP’s new graphics technologies, as a manager or architect, Alan led teams to deliver:

  • HP “Snakes” industry leading PA-Risc graphics (X, Starbase and PHIGS)
  • HP’s first technical Window-based PC graphics products, (OpenGL)
  • HP’s first Linux workstations with Linux leadership Visualize graphics (OpenGL and X on RedHat Linux)
  • Alan also worked closely with DreamWorks technical staff to move their animators from SGI to Linux workstations, jumpstarting the close partnership between HP and DreamWorks.

    Alan led many other projects, but most recently he pioneered and was a leader on the HP Skyroom technical collaboration product with responsibility for video pipeline.

    Alan lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife, Jolene.  They have six children that they try hard to keep up with.  Alan enjoys lots of outdoor activities with his family and friends such as riding dirt bikes, skiing/snowboarding, and mountain biking.

    As a Graphics Technologist and Business Development Manager, Jens has focused his entire 23 year career on developing and delivering interesting graphics technologies.  A successful entrepreneur, Jens has founded two graphics technology companies over the last 12 years:

  • Precision Insight: founded in 1998 and sold to VA Linux Systems in 2000.  PI was responsible for creating the first open source infrastructure for 3D hardware acceleration (DRI), as well as providing the first 3D Linux drivers for Intel, ATI, Matrox and 3DFX.
  • Tungsten Graphics: founded in 2001 and sold to VMware in 2008.  TG is responsible for creating the first open source shader pipeline for hardware accelerating modern programmable graphics (Gallium3D).
  • Jens lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado with his better half, Lisa, and their son, Erik.  With easy access to skiing, hockey and mountain biking; Jens is able to integrate the active mountain lifestyle into his daily life.
